HARVEST POWER – StormFisher Biogas, London – Our first stop of the day will be at the StormFisher Biogas site in London to view the large scale Anaerobic Digester system currently under construction – we will stop at the front gates for a guided overview of the project given by Harvest Power. Harvest Power owns and operates facilities throughout North America in British Columbia, Ontario, California and throughout the Mid-Atlantic, Midwest states and Northeastern US.

CARES - University of Guelph, Ridgetown Campus - Centre for Agricultural Renewable Energy and Sustainability (CARES). We will see how agricultural and food-industry biomass is turned into biogas in the farm-scale 250 kW anaerobic digester. Also visit the biodiesel facility and see how to convert waste vegetable oil into biodiesel.

KRUGER WIND TURBINES – Farm of Ed VanDeWynckel, Chatham-Kent – The Municipality of Chatham-Kent located on the shores of Lake Erie is a region known for strong, constant winds making it a popular spot for wind power development in recent years. We will hear a farmer’s perspective on having four Siemens 2.3-MW Mk II Wind Turbines in operation on his property.

NEW ENERGY FARMS – Leamington – At this site you will have the opportunity to see Miscanthus and other energy crops from field scale production right through to processing including use on site in a biomass burner as part of the greenhouse operation. NEF also have operations in the US (Georgia) and the EU (UK) and operate the largest dedicated propagation facilities for these energy crops in North America. They also design and build specialized equipment for growing energy crops and develop biomass processing sites for producing Bio Products.

NORTHGRID SOLAR – Komoka Community Wellness and Recreation Centre – Operating 307 kW solar array on a community hockey arena utilizing an elevated truss system. The facility also has other green features (ice heat exchanger, lighting) that have been implemented allowing it to obtain a 4 out of 5 green globe designation.
